HEALTH OUTREACH SERVICES
Our health services are made possible by our partnership with Red Bird Clinic, Inc., as well as through financial assistance from the Berea College Appalachian Fund, the Good Samaritan Foundation, and our generous private donors.
Our dental clinic serves both adults and children. We offer flexible payment options to suit a variety of financial capabilities.
Additionally, the clinic also offers prescription assistance. We provide free medication and supplies for uninsured patients through the financial aid programs of various pharmaceutical companies.
Community health is a high priority here at Red Bird Clinic. We facilitate home visits from our team of dedicated nurses, as well as community education. We are involved in numerous wellness programs, such as the 3-County Health Fair. We also support school health services, hearing aid clinics, and more.
Our Story
Since its early days, Red Bird Mission has worked to meet the health care needs of people in the Red Bird River Valley. Red Bird medical work began in 1922 with Miss Lydia Rice, RN. Dr. Harlan Heim would join the staff in 1926. The first hospital was built at Beverly in 1928, but for many years, calls to mountain homes were made by medical staff on horseback. As the population grew, a larger, modern hospital and outpatient clinic were constructed in 1959, seven miles down Red Bird River in Clay County on property that had been obtained from Ford Motor Company. Our passion for our community has lead us to continue expanding on this legacy, and today, Red Bird Mission provides a variety of healthcare services to people across the valley.
Dental Services
In partnership with the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Red Bird provides affordable dentistry services including routine cleanings, fillings, dentures, crowns, implants and more. We harness the latest technology, such as x-rays and 3D printers to provide our patients with top-of-the-line care.
