Flood Recovery Continuing at Queendale

Naturally, the long term recovery for so many of us continues one month after the devastating Valentine’s Day weekend flooding in eastern Kentucky. Support partners are joining with us to aid in the providing supplies and equipment for repairs needed for our communities and across the Queendale Campus, plus our Red Bird Christian School (RBCS) students have stepped in with hands-on service.
Maintenance staff are in process of replacement of a culvert between the Schaeffer Building and Administration, but their efforts to get debris cleaned around buildings got a boost from a small track hoe that was rented by a supporter to help aid in the cleanup. In addition to special financial assistance, Mission of Hope in Knoxville, Tennessee dropped off a load of needed water, food, clothing, diapers, sanitation supplies, and adult incontinence and hygiene supplies on Monday. RBCS Agriculture Science students pitched in to clear debris and remnants of a beaver dam that were covering a portion of the walking track at the school.
Community and a Fishing Trip at DeWall Center

Inside the Red Bird Mission DeWall Senior Center, you will find a welcoming atmosphere and a strong sense of belonging. For the folks of Bell and Clay Counties aged 60 and over, it is a place where a generation can come together and share their life experiences. Besides building a sense of community and offering support services, this unique senior center is all about serving up healthy meals, organizing fun activities, and providing educational opportunities.
Starting March 13th, The DeWall Senior Center is excited to announce the launch of a "Men's Group" meeting every other Thursday at 10:15am. In the Men's Group, you'll explore fun activities like wood crafting, building birdhouses, and growing a garden in a raised bed. Leading the group is Tate Adams, who says you don't want to miss out on the fishing trips he has planned! Tate also emphasizes the need for a 3D printer donation to support the creative resources, enhancing educational and crafting activities for groups at the Senior Center.

Praise Team Inspires Spiritual Action

Their choreography set to Christian music adds a depth to their witness, and the interpretation of Tauren Wells’ “Take It All Back” drove home the message to students and staff at Red Bird Christian School on Wednesday to pray and take a stand for families. Two dancers were out due to illness, but no one in the weekly chapel audience would have known from the excellent performance if they had not been told. Mrs. Rebecca Smallwood, set the stage for hearing the message in the song by reminding all that the idea of “the Devil made me do it” is false.
She urged everyone to take action, to be warriors.
“If there are things in your life that you are not satisfied with, read your bible, pray and take a stand for what’s right. What about our families that need Jesus? Are we fighting for them? Are we praying for them? He’s calling us to be warriors. In this song you’re gonna hear [the message] don’t believe the lies of the Enemy over your family. It’s time to be warriors, and not wimps.”
